The Right Guide(s) for your Psychedelic Preparation

by | Jul 19, 2022 | Blog | 1 comment

Many Want to Experience Psychedelic Modalities With the Help of Trained Guides
While many individuals may feel comfortable in a clinical medical setting, others may feel more relaxed, uninhibited, and trusting in the process while accompanied by the guidance of a Peer Support Specialist. Peer Support Specialists are uniquely positioned to teach mindfulness techniques and support general life improvement outcomes. The time is right for this type of support. In President Biden’s first State of the Union address for 2022, he acknowledged “an unprecedented mental health crisis among people of all ages”, alongside a massive shortage in licensed mental health providers. As a solution, the White House posits a growing reliance on peer counselors: individuals who, based on their own experience and ability to resolve personal problems, are trained to become certified professional counselors.
Eddie and I Have Been Certified Peer Support Specialists for Several Years

Although Certified Peer Support Specialists cannot prescribe medication like a psychiatrist, research shows that certified peer support specialists are sometimes even more helpful than traditional therapists.

Eddie and I work with individuals using Peer Cognitive Behavioral Coaching which teaches how to embrace uncomfortable emotions by becoming somatically aware and reframing negative thoughts about those emotions into more supportive, productive ones. Being okay with being uncomfortable is a necessary skill if we are to remain mentally, physically and spiritually balanced. It is especially important because breathwork and the therapeutic use of psilocybin heightens emotions. We humans are designed to be highly sensitive. Our emotions are healthy, natural, and worthy of our attention and appreciation. Bringing equal curiosity to both the uncomfortable emotions and the pleasant ones is a skill we can practice and gradually integrate into daily life, which leads to greater wholeness.

Bottom up Therapy Includes the Body

We help individuals access and refine their internal skills by becoming adept at somatic awareness and emotional management. We do this by helping you access your innate capacities through specific trauma-informed breathing practices, therapeutic movements and somatic mindfulness.

Many of our clients have reported how much they appreciate having both a male and female dynamic available to hold space for whatever may come up during a breathwork or psilocybin experience. Most psychedelic guides work alone but we offer a male/female duo that stays with you the whole time, in each preparation session throughout your journey and several integration sessions. This secure model provides both strong and soft emotional energy allowing each client to feel nurtured while diving deeply into the expanded psychedelic mind-state.
