Did you know that cannabis can be utilized as a psychedelic for intentional healing and spiritual transformation?
This includes LEGAL cannabis!!! If THCa is derived from hemp that is grown by a licensed cultivator and contains less than 0.3% THC, it is legal, and in North Carolina where we reside, local dispensaries provide a wide range of strains containing the whole spectrum of terpenes and endocannabinoids that can be blended for the optimal “entourage effect”.
Has Cannabis Been Overlooked?
“In ancient times, Cannabis was considered a master plant teacher, the boon of deep meditation, and the creator and conqueror of worlds. It was only recently that it was degraded as the “gateway drug.” To us, it is the gateway medicine… to creative insights, physical and mental well-being, and deeply meaningful psychedelic experiences.
Cannabis is a powerful feminist spirit, providing unconditional love and deep nurturing, while inviting us to face our deepest fears and aspects of being with resilience, perseverance and mastery. Cannabis is a consensual psychedelic, inviting, not requiring us to face ourselves for healing and awakening.” – Daniel McQueen, Ex. Dir., Center for Medicinal Mindfulness
To “Get high”, or “To heal”?
For many, cannabis was “grass”, “pot”, “weed”, etc and was basically used “to party” or “just plain get loaded”. Eddie used it VERY unskillfully at times for decades to avoid dealing with life, to try and numb the pain of severe trauma. Now we have come to understand the value of this plant for healing and transformation, as it absolutely can be used as a psychedelic to great effectiveness if doing the appropriate preparation and integration – much like other plant medicines.
Many describe psychedelic cannabis experiences as a powerful mushroom-like or ayahuasca-like journey with the emotional support of MDMA. Because of cannabis’s effects on the endocannabinoid system, these experiences allow journeyers to maintain a greater sense of personal agency and an amplified somatic awareness. These traits support trauma resolution and healing.
Can We Include Other Practices?
Intentionally using cannabis in this way allows us to also “stack” the medicine with other modalities such as breathwork, meditation, yoga and other mind-body practices, providing remarkable results…all quite safe provided there are none of the few contraindications that might stand in the way. I can tell you that meditation or breathwork with the entourage effect kicking in is amazing, as is any kind of movement practice since this medicine is incredibly somatic used in this manner.
